Welcome to Columbus College of Art & Design (CCAD), one of the largest and oldest private art colleges in the United States. Recognized as a leader in visual arts education and as a resource for artists and the community, CCAD advances a distinct learning culture by blending a tradition of professionalism and a commitment to quality with a solid education in the fundamentals of art and the humanities.
More than 1,300 students from 40 states and 35 foreign countries are enrolled in our four-year program of study, pursuing the Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in one or more of nine majors: Advertising and Graphic Design, Animation, Fashion Design, Fine Arts (including painting, drawing, ceramics, sculpture, printmaking, and glassblowing), Illustration, Industrial Design, Interior Design, Media Studies (including digital imaging, video and film, storyboard and computer animation, and photo illustration), and Photography. In addition to major areas of concentration, we offer specialized courses of study in animation, art therapy, computer graphics, fashion illustration, product design and package design.
Liberal Arts courses are a large and vital part of our curriculum. They provide historical perspectives and rich cultural contexts for studio classes.
Despite the size of our enrollment, we have an ideal climate for individual attention and personal growth. With a roster of 180 faculty members, our student/instructor ratio is just 12:1.
CCAD graduates hold key positions as artists and designers in major companies and institutions throughout the country and abroad. Their success speaks well for our top-flight foundation program, believed by many to be the finest in the country, and our constant focus on professionalism. Regardless of your major—whether you intend to make your mark on canvas or in clay, on film, or with digital images—we place strong emphasis on the fundamental principles of art and design, and on the mastery of techniques and materials. At the same time, we stress the methods used in today's professional work environments.
If you're a student searching for the art school that will help you make the most of your talent, your temperament, and the time you will invest in education, we urge you to visit our campus. Come share with us your visions—of yourself, your work, your future. And see for yourself why CCAD is the institution where visions come to life.
