It may be snowing outside, but today I saw the first sign of spring. It came in the form of a fashion photo shoot; and, for me, the shoot was a brilliant reminder that the CCAD Fashion Show will be here before we know it.
A lot will be happening over the next few months as we get ready to host another fabulous fashion event on May 11. Come to think of it, a lot has been happening over the last six months. But today as Capital Style magazine came out with their cameras and lights, I felt the excitement starting to stir—oh yes, it’s THAT time again!
You can see a few photos from the shoot here (we don’t want to give away too much), but the real deal will be in the March issue of Capital Style.
What else is coming up? Well, an advance purchase offer on tickets starts February 1—that is we will offer a special rate to those early birds who get their tickets before March 15. And if that isn’t enough incentive to buy early, you should know that this show has sold out every year for three years running (despite our efforts to make room for more people in the tent).
We’ll share photos and notes as we cover a second photo shoot, this one with CCAD photography students as they develop the images that will be used in the magazine-style lookbook that is created for the show. By the way, all the design work to promote the show, including the lookbook, is being created by CCAD’s student Design Group in collaboration with local branding agency Ologie—we’ll take a closer look at that later.
Lots to talk about in the coming months. If you twitter you can stay up to day by following us via @CCADedu, and if you want to converse about the show use #ccadfs. While you’re at it you should follow Capital Style’s Kristy Eckert @kristyeckert. CCAD Fashion Design senior Amanda Smith is creating a custom look for Kristy, and she’s tweeting about it (and so much more).
The CCAD Fashion Show is an annual fundraising event that showcases the talent of graduating Columbus College of Art & Design Fashion Design Seniors. This popular event sells out every year and this blog is a portal through which to view the behind-the-scenes goings on.
