Curtis Benzle, CCAD professor emeritus, will be teaching a class in Italy this spring at La Meridiana: International School of Ceramic Art in Tuscany. His class, “Porcelain: Color and Light,” will focus on colored clay techniques that he uses in his own work.

Benzle has worked with colored, translucent porcelain for 40 years.  His signature artworks are translucent sculptural vessels and architectural lighting.

Benzle’s ceramics are included in major museums and collections around the world, including the Smithsonian, the Los Angeles County Museum of Art, and the White House Collection.

La Meridiana is a nonprofit institution for the advancement of the ceramic arts founded in 1981. The class will be taught April 22–28, 2012.
