Send to KindleMedia Studies student Sean Elliott (CCAD 2014) is painting a mural on the outside of a municipal/police department building in Frazeysburg, OH.
The 15-by-10 foot mural is in commemoration of veterans, featuring a Purple Heart medal with World War I, World War II, Vietnam War, and Iraq and Afghan soldiers. Elliott himself is a veteran of the US Air Force and has worked on two other memorials. He completed a World War II memorial at the Newark American Legion, post 85 in Ohio and is currently finishing up work on a granite design that will be placed in a cemetery in Toboso, OH.
“The best part of the [American Legion] project was meeting a World War II veteran,” Elliott said. “He had tears in his eyes and said ‘I see all of my buddies, and a lot of them never made it home.’”
The mural in Frazeysburg was unveiled Saturday, Aug. 25, at 10 a.m., with a military ceremony.
