Alumnus Richard Mills (CCAD 1989) participated in the Ashes to Art Project, an art auction benefiting volunteer fire departments in Colorado affected by wildfires in 2012.

Mills was one of 70 artists who participated in the online auction. Participating artists were given charcoal from the wildfires to use and/or incorporate into their work.

The auction was held Oct. 7–14 and raised nearly $8,000.
