Professor Charlene Fix will participate in a literary picnic on Aug. 7 presented by the Thurber House in Columbus, OH.

Fix will read from her book Harpo Marx as Trickster at 7 p.m. with picnicking for attendees starting at 5:30 p.m. Tickets for each reading cost $30 with a boxed dinner or $15 for the reading only.

Fix’s book was 10 years in the making and explores her reasoning in defining Harpo Marx, a member of cinema’s famous Marx Brothers, as a trickster.

A trickster figure is a literary term to describe a character that plays tricks or otherwise disobeys normal behavior and includes well-known characters such as Brer Rabbit and the Joker from the Batman comics.
