A member of CCAD’s board of trustees has landed on a national list of go-gettin’ females. Ice-cream entrepreneur Jeni Britton Bauer of Columbus is on Cosmopolitan magazine’s 2013 Cosmo Power List, an annual celebration of women creating and achieving, from the soccer pitch to the fashion runway to outer space.
Bauer began her artisan ice-cream shop in Columbus in 1996, and Jeni’s Spendid Ice Cream has since expanded to fifteen shops in Ohio, Tennessee, and Illinois. In addition to her service as a CCAD trustee, she also runs an ongoing internship program with CCAD, and is a proud alumna of the college’s long running Saturday Morning Art Classes for children.
Her best-selling Jeni’s Spendid Ice Creams at Home, earned Bauer a James Beard Award for culinary writing.
With Bauer on this year’s Cosmo Power List of 20 awardees are Christie Ramone, captain of the U.S. woman’s national soccer team, Stacey Bendet, founder and creative director of Alice + Olivia, and astronaut Karen Nyberg, now aboard the International Space Station.
