It’s crunch time.
As the designers begin to wrap up their collections, many are turning their attention to the details. Some are more obvious, like an in-your-face pop of python print, while others are more reserved, like a subtle sparkle added to a knit tee or a vibrantly lined pants pocket.
Even though the runway show isn’t until May 9, the student designers face the jury in two short weeks, and they know that details can make or break their runway hopes. (Check out the gallery below to see some of the fabulous details I captured during yesterday’s critique.)
Made up of fashion-industry professionals, the jury will make the final decisions about which garments will be included in the show and which, sadly, will not.
The designers won’t be present at the jury, allowing the panel to freely discuss and dissect each garment, from seams, necklines, and hems, to buttons, pleats, and zippers. It really is all in the details.
As you anxiously count down the days until the big show, be sure to check in here and on Twitter (#ccadfs) for my take on all the details. I’ll be sneaking in to the jury in two weeks to eavesdrop on deliberations, tagging along during the photo shoot, and getting some one-on-one time with the designers as soon as the jury results are announced.
