Fine Arts senior Kyle Boganwright opened his own gallery, lucky13gallery, in Columbus’ Short North Arts District in April.

The combined salon, event space, and gallery will feature work by Boganwright, Illustration senior Jean Paul Senior, Dan Gerdeman, and Brad Stefanov through Dec. 31.

Boganwright works primarily with acrylic and paint markers, pen and ink, and watercolor, and said he likes to include archetypal messages in his art.

“The content can sometimes be controversial, which I try to lighten with humor or bright colors,” Boganwright said. “I have been heavily influenced by Ralph Steadman, Basquait, and my study of history and mythology.”

Boganwright said he aspires to expand the gallery to other cities and start an artist-in-residence program in Columbus in the next five to 10 years.

Boganwright also has a solo show, titled Professional Mis-Conduct, on display through April 30 at R.A.W. Gallery, 112 E. Main St., Columbus, OH, 43215. The show was featured in Columbus Alive and includes ink and watercolor pieces.

Lucky13gallery is located in Columbus’ Short North Arts District, 13 W. First St., Columbus, OH, 43201.

Boganwright is from Hilliard, OH, and attended Hilliard Davidson High School. Senior is from Coral Gables, FL, and attended Design & Architecture Senior High School.
