Last week Animation students got up close and personal with mixed breed wolf Lucian, an ambassador wolf from Ironwood Wolves.

Lucian mingled with students in the cafe sketch and Animation portfolio classes on the third floor of the Loann Crane Center for Design for an hour while they sketched and took photos.

“We love bringing in Ironwood Wolves because Rachel [the founder of Ironwood Wolves] is an alumna and the work that she does with the wolves is really important,” said Animation Chair Charlotte Belland. “To actually have the creature in front of you is phenomenal.”

Belland said the cafe sketch class centers on students using long, fluid strokes to capture creatures, both animals and humans, in motion. Students in the class have also sketched animals at the Columbus Zoo, dancers at Ballet Met, and athletes at the Arnold Classic.

Ironwood Wolves raises awareness and offers education about wolves through art, and was started by Photography alumna Rachel Lauren (CCAD 2010).
