Fine Arts professor and alumnus Robert Robbins (Fine Arts 1990) will present a paper titled Turner’s Attack with Fire and Smog at Theories and Uses of Light in British Arts of the 19th and 20th Centuries at the Université Paris Diderot in Paris June 20–21.
The two-day international conference will investigate the functions and uses of light in British arts of the 19th and 20th centuries, from references to light in literature and music to its material treatment in painting, architecture, photography, cinema, and performance arts, as well as landscapes and gardens.
Robbins’ work has been shown nationally and internationally, including at the Butler Institute of American Art; the Chateau in Rochefort-en-Terre, France; the Springfield Museum of Art; and the Florida State University Museum of Contemporary Art. His work is also in private and public collections including Ohio State University, the Nord Family Foundation, and the Columbus Metropolitan Library.
