				<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Charlene Fix, associate professor and chair of English &amp; Philosophy, served as a judge for a local poetry slam and is presenting her work throughout Columbus.</p>
<p>Fix was on a panel of judges for the Columbus City School District Poetry Slam on April 21 at Centennial High School. She will also be reading her poetry at Sips Café at 101 South Main Street in Mount Vernon, OH, on April 24, 7 p.m.</p>
<p>She will be presenting on her manuscript, <em>Harpo Marx as Trickster: Why We Love Him, Why We Laugh at Him, Why He Seems Divine,</em> at <a href="http://www.jungcentralohio.org/index.html">C.G. Jung Association of Central Ohio</a><em>, </em>a community center in Columbus, on May 6, 1:30 p.m. <a href="http://www.ccad.edu/blog/2012/03/liberal-arts-faculty-signs-book-contract/">She recently signed a contract with McFarland, to publish the manuscript</a>.</p>

<p><a href="http://www.gordonlee-art.com/">Gordon Lee</a>, professor of Fine Arts and Graduate Studies at CCAD, has a solo exhibition at <a href="http://www.anthonybrunelli.com/index.php">Anthony Brunelli Fine Arts Gallery</a> in Binghamton, New York, April 6–27, 2012.</p>
<p>This is Lee’s second solo show at the gallery. It will include 18 of his recent paintings about the remnants of human struggles in the urban world.</p>
<p>“Whenever I look at walls in back alleys and side streets, I find myself inspired by the marks, cracks, nails, hinges, windows, and graffiti on them,” said Lee. “They reflect our existence and also our efforts to adapt and to alter that existence in the concrete jungle.”</p>
<p>Lee received his BFA from Concordia University, Canada, and his MFA from the Cranbrook Academy of Art. He has taught drawing and printmaking at Hong Kong Polytechnic University and has received an Individual Artist Fellowship from the Greater Columbus Art Council.</p>
<p>Anthony Brunelli Fine Arts Gallery is located in downtown Binghamton on the first two floors of 186 State Street.</p>
<p>The exhibition is open April 6–27 with a reception on April 6, 6–9 p.m.</p>

<p>Kraft will present her paper <em>The Irish Image: Cultural Identity for the Global Marketplace</em> and chair a session entitled <em>Erin Influence Abroad</em>.</p>
<p>The entire conference explores the theme of <em>Erin at Home, Erin Abroad: Capturing the Irish Experience</em>.</p>

<p><a href="http://www.ccad.edu/programs-of-study/faculty-bios/v-z" target="_blank">Chun Arthur Wang</a>, associate professor, Fine Arts, is one of 14 artists who created portraits for an <a href="http://www.oac.state.oh.us/" target="_blank">Ohio Arts Council</a> (OAC) exhibition through April 17.</p>
<p><a href="http://www.oac.state.oh.us/riffe/exhibitions/2011/HeresLooking/HeresLooking.asp" target="_blank"><em>Here’s Looking at You: Portraits in Ohio</em></a> is on display in OAC&#8217;s <a href="http://www.oac.state.oh.us/riffe/default.asp" target="_blank">Riffe Gallery</a>. Participating artists stretch the  idea of what a portrait can be and use a variety of  mediums—from photography to charcoal to stoneware to acrylic   painting—to create unforgettable portraits.</p>
<p>Admission to the gallery, located in the Vern  Riffe Center for Government and the  Arts, 77 S. High St., Columbus, OH, is free. Hours are Tuesday, 10 a.m.–4 p.m.,  Wednesday and Friday, 10   a.m.–5:30 p.m., Thursday, 10 a.m.–8 p.m.  and Saturday and  Sunday, noon–4 p.m. Phone 614.644.9624 for more  information.</p>
