In its September 2011 subscriber edition, Nintendo Power magazine wrote an article remembering Ken Aschliman (aka Kenay Kash) and his mural, which was on CCAD’s campus in fall of 2010 (when Aschliman was a senior).

Aschliman (CCAD 2011), a Fine Arts major, was part of the team that created the 16- by 38-foot interactive mural depicting a scene from Super Mario Bros to stand as a metaphor for student involvement.

“Ultimately, students control their college experience if they participate in the discussion, like a player controls a video game,” Aschliman said in the article.

“The mural invited students to participate by posing in the landscape to complete the image,” he said.

The project was worked on by 12 students and took eight days to complete.

The mural was painted on the side of the administrative building on campus. It was up for three months to promote the Student Government’s inaugural town-hall meeting, which is an open forum for students to discuss any concerns and seek out answers to questions. While up the mural garnered some media attention and was the subject of several blogs.
