We do our best to get most of the news you submit to us onto the CCAD News Blog, but since there are more than 10,000 of you making news all over the world, not everything can make it into the blog. We’re glad to have another venue where we can share everything with you—this newsletter’s classnotes.

Two CCAD graduates have opened a new boutique in Ann Arbor that was recently featured in Lead Magazine.

Maris Turner (CCAD 2007) and Sara Renner (CCAD 2008) decided to start a business together after meeting during their internships at American Eagle in New York.

Their shop, Avtomobile, sells clothing, jewelry, and accessories. The pieces found in the store are either created by the graduates or found on their many buying trips.

“Maris and I will go on road trips all over the state or out of state and map out all different kinds of antique stores, vintage shops, random garage sales; sometimes the best finds are the places we happen upon,” Renner said in the article.

According the the magazine article, Turner uses his illustration background to create designs for shirts, while Renner’s fashion design background supports her work on projects ranging from creating original bags to re-fitting vintage clothes for a more modern look.

The owners want shoppers to have an experience in Avtomobile similar to those that they have had visiting vintage and antique stores. Shoppers will dig through stacks of merchandise to find that something special like a treasure hunt.

Avtomobile hopes to make their products available to purchase online soon.
