Liberal Arts Chair Has Five Poems Published
Charlene Fix, professor, chair, English and Philosophy, has five poems published in two publications. Voyeurs, Working Out, Persephone Smashes Clocks, and Memory with Black Umbrella appear in Birmingham Poetry Review, No. 36, Fall/Winter 2009. The Song of the Shield appears in Pudding Magazine: The Journal of Applied Poetry, #54.

Liberal Arts Faculty Crafts Presentation at Irish Studies Conference
Jeannine Kraft, assistant professor, Liberal Arts, presented "The Construction of Irish Identity Through the Formation of the Landscape and its Depiction in Landscape Art of the Modern Era" at the American Conference on Irish Studies. The international meeting was held at the National University of Ireland, Galway in the summer.

Faculty Collaborate to Present Conference Paper
Liberal Arts faculty Julie Posey, associate professor, and Jeannine Kraft, assistant professor, are presenting a paper on how to develop an online program at the Sloan-C Asynchronous Learning conference in October.

Liberal Arts Tutor Wins Conference Award
Sonya Fix, a Liberal Arts tutor, won the best student poster award for her presentation at NWAV 38 (an annual meeting of New Ways of Analyzing Variation, a Sociolinguistics Conference on Language Variation and Change) at The University of Ottawa, Ontario, Canada, Oct. 22-25. Her poster presentation was "Representations of Blackness by White Women: Linguistic Practice in the Community versus The Media."

Bill Hunt Juries Fine Arts Exhibition
Bill Hunt, professor, Fine Arts, and Liz Hunt juried the Dublin (OH) Area Art League's autumn fine arts exhibition, which included paintings, watercolors, photography, sculpture and acrylic media. Seven prizewinners were announced Nov. 12, 2009 at the Dublin Community Recreation Center.
