This is the 23rd year that CCAD has hosted the Central Ohio regional competition, according to Thomas Green, admissions director at CCAD, who serves as Central Ohio Scholastics coordinator. Nationally, Scholastic, Inc. has recognized student achievement in the visual arts since 1923. The Scholastics program is the oldest and largest student awards program in the country.
Students from Ashland, Delaware, Fairfield, Franklin, Hocking, Licking, Madison, Morrow, Pickaway and Richland counties are eligible for the competition. Entries were submitted by more than 1,000 students, representing 55 high schools and junior high or middle schools.
Judges included 10 high school art instructors and art department chairs from outside the Central Ohio region, as well as nine CCAD faculty members.
The Ohio Arts Council helps fund exhibitions at CCAD with state tax dollars to encourage economic growth, educational excellence and cultural enrichment for all Ohioans.
