High school students are introduced to the basic skills of throwing, hand building, and glazing. Good design, balance, and visual flow in form are stressed in this fast paced class. Through demonstrations and presentation of the rich history of ceramics students learn about differing firing methods and surface treatments. Students are encouraged to develop a small body of work from a set of functional cups to non-functional sculptures they'll be urged to develop a personal style and unique approach in this ancient medium.
