Jewelry; Stone Setting, workshop
Instructor: Chris Hill
Dates/Times: Monday - Friday, June 10 - 14, 9 am - Noon
Investigation of advanced stone setting techniques including channel, flush, strip, prong and bezel setting as an integrated part of overall jewelry design. Imagine adding more color and brilliance, accenting that special gem by adding a pave border. Create a constellation of diamonds using flush setting, or a ribbon of color with channel setting.
These techniques will expand your design vocabulary. Problem solving for setting unusual shapes and fragile materials will be included as well as creating and fabricating settings.
Working on samples of setting techniques in brass with cubic zirconia, students are encouraged to bring designs with them to apply what they learn and troubleshoot any potential problems. Special attention is given to individuals to help them realize their unique vision in jewelry creation.
