Disability Support

Columbus College of Art & Design recognizes the importance of ensuring that every student, including those with disabilities, has access to all aspects of the educational experience within the CCAD community. Students who choose to provide documentation of a disability may be eligible for a variety of reasonable accommodations and services coordinated by Learning Support Services.

Eligibility

The first step in the process is to submit documentation of a disability to CCAD Learning Support Services. Information for Learning Support Services may be mailed or faxed and should include the student's name and return address.

CCAD has a legal obligation based on Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act and the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) to maintain confidentiality. The disability-related records kept in our office are strictly confidential and are not part of a student's academic record. Learning Support Services does not disclose information about a disability to anyone without a student's prior written consent.

Accommodations

After the documentation has been received, the director of Learning Support Services meets individually with the student to determine appropriate accommodations. Accommodations are determined on a case-by-case basis and are based upon the documented limitations and strengths of each student. The planning process for accommodations requires the active participation of the student taking into consideration prior experiences and personal preferences.
