headshot of ccad faculty ernest viveirosview gallery graphicErnest Viveiros, professor, Fine Arts, teaches anatomy and structure, painting, and figure drawing. His work has appeared in group and solo exhibitions including exhibitions at the Butler Institute of American Art and the Chicago International Art Expo. BFA, Southwestern Massachusetts University; MFA, Southern Illinois University.


James Voorhies, director of Exhibitions, adjunct graduate faculty, is an art historian and curator. Previously, he was deputy director at the Wattis Institute for Contemporary Arts at the California College of the Arts in San Francisco and he worked in curatorial departments at the Brooklyn Museum of Art and the Metropolitan Museum of Art. He  taught art history at the Parsons School of Design and the San Francisco Art Institute. His published works include My Dear Stieglitz: Letters of Marsden Hartley and Alfred Stieglitz, 1912-1915 (2002, University of South Carolina Press), as well as contributions to the online resource Timeline of Art History. In 2006, Voorhies instituted the Bureau for Open Culture at CCAD to curate projects and exhibitions under its auspices.

He has exhibited work in China, Chile, Japan, Mexico, Spain, and the U.S. His works are held in private and public collections, including the China National Museum of Fine Arts in Beijing, University of Colorado, and the Ohio Statehouse. He is the recipient of an Individual Artist Fellowship from the Greater Columbus Arts Council. BFA, CCAD; MFA, University of Colorado, Boulder.

She is a freelance graphic designer and illustrator and owns Designed 4-U, an event decorating company. She has served as art director for several companies in central Ohio and has worked as a portrait photographer. BFA, CCAD.


headshot of ccad faculty james weigleview gallery graphicJames Weigle, professor, Fine Arts and Graduate Studies, teaches papermaking and printmaking courses in lithography and relief, and is a certified professional Tamarind printer. He has received several Ohio Arts Council grants for coordinating youth art classes and was invited to participate in the 2007 International Printmaking Workstudio at Xi'an Academy of Fine Arts in Xi'an, China. He has professionally printed editions at Tamarind Institute, Solo Press and Atelier Ettinger. BFA, Carnegie Mellon University; MFA, Pennsylvania State University.

She is an instructor at the Columbus Cultural Arts Center. Her work is represented in numerous private and corporate collections, and her commercial work includes over 40 commemorative watercolor illustrations and designs. headshot of ccad faculty c. zachary welchC. Zachary Welch, instructor, Media Studies, teaches interactive time-based design. His professional work includes producer for CompuServe’s CD-ROM magazine, senior designer for Playboy.com, visual effects artist for Spike Lee’s 40 Acres and a Mule Productions, and creative director of Ezz-Thetic Media. He has also served as featured designer for the Columbus Cultural Arts Center, the New York Center for New Design, and the indie film collective, Reel Independents. He wrote, directed, and produced an independent film, Blood and Ashes, screened in New York City, 2001. BA, Ohio Dominican University; MFA, Parsons, The New School for Design.

He works as a commercial photographer and speaks nationally on topics relating to electronic-imaging technologies. AAS, DeVry Institute of Technology; BS,  Rochester Institute of Technology.


view gallery graphicBrian R. Williams, adjunct instructor, Visual Communications, teaches design and electronic illustration. He is a freelance graphic designer whose client list includes the Columbus Museum of Art, Honda of America, Paul Werth Associates, the Longaberger Company, and YWCA Columbus. He is currently working on his master's degree, which is focused on art crime. He regularly exhibits his paintings and drawings in gallery shows. BFA, CCAD.


headshot of ccad faculty tom williamsonTom Williamson, assistant professor, Industrial Design, has worked in manufacturing and retail management. His professional design experience includes human factors consulting and retail fixture design. BA, MBA, George Washington University; BSID, University of Cincinnati.


view gallery graphicLeah Wong, adjunct instructor, Illustration, teaches illustration methods, and style and concepts. An illustrator and designer of books, book covers, posters, and other forms of visual communication, she has won illustration and design awards from Adobe Systems and the National Literary Journal Competition for Cover Design and Layout, among others. Her award-winning paintings have been exhibited in group and solo shows nationally and internationally. She is represented by Sherrie Gallerie in Columbus. In 2009 she won a National Endowment for the Humanities grant to interview leading modern artists in China. Previously, she taught painting, drawing, color, and design at Donghua University and Shanghai Drama Academy in Shanghai, China. BFA, China Academy of Fine Arts; MFA, Ohio University. Yates, associate professor, Foundation Studies, Fine Arts, and Graduate Studies, teaches color concept, two dimensional design, and fine arts thesis. He exhibits his mixed-media constructions throughout Ohio, contributes art reviews to regional publications, and is a regular contributor to the Columbus Dispatch.
