Visiting Artists Series
Thursday, Feb. 28, 6:30 p.m.
Canzani Center Auditorium (map it)
Sharon Olds is the author of eight volumes of poetry. With sensuality, humor, and remarkable imagery, she confronts domestic and political violence, family relationships, love and the body. The New York Times hailed her: “Like Whitman, Olds sings the body in celebration of a power stronger than political oppression.” Olds has been honored by National Endowment for the Arts, the Guggenheim Foundation, and the National Book Critics Circle.
The most recent of Olds’ many honors is her selection as the first American female winner of the T.S. Eliot Prize for her most recent collection, Stag's Leap—described by Eliot Prize judges as “a tremendous book of grace and gallantry which crowns the career of a world-class poet.”
