A select group of top CCAD Fashion Design students spent spring semester on a deep dive into denim as part of the Denim Directions Design Challenge. CCAD was chosen through a competitive grant process to host the challenge by Cotton Inc., a leading U.S. producer and importer of cotton products.
The challenge kicked off with extensive educational opportunities, including hands-on workshops, online classes, and a trip to an actual garment manufacturer.
Each student then presented one concept for the future of denim to a panel of industry professionals. Ten finalists were invited to prepare final garments and travel to the Cotton Inc. headquarters in North Carolina to learn more about the denim industry—and two challenge winners won scholarships.
