Dina Sherman: Tweets, 2007
Have you ever noticed that a bird’s nest looks a lot like a breast? That would make the begging baby birds’ heads rather much like nipples. And that’s exactly what I’ve made—bird nipples.
Though it came from a somewhat loose, but poignant, game of visual free association, the profundity of the juxtaposition is (maybe only to me) recognizable. There is a parallel between the maternal and the sexual. I have not, as of yet, plundered all the way through this analogy, but some thoughts include the misunderstanding of one for the other, a dependence or reliance on either from the perspective of each sex, and the innocence/non-innocence with which we want to ponder each. There is more to be had here, but I hope to leave the rest up to you. Enjoy.
