February 13 - April 5, 2008
Opening reception, Canzani Center Gallery
Wednesday, February 13, 5–7 p.m.
Exact Imagination will feature a selection of works and installations that examine various influences and factors that affect how we experience art. This selection will range from works that initiate discussions about our response to art and the institutional influences that determine it to humorous criticisms about how visitors act during opening receptions and the tactics employed by galleries and by institutions to attract them.
Taking its title from an analysis by Theodor Adorno Exact Imagination encourages a critical consideration of the subjective and objective forces that collide with aesthetic form to shape a viewer’s reception of art.
Artists:
BANK, Andrea Fraser, Gaylen Gerber, David Ireland, N55, Christian Jankowski,
Louise Lawler, David Ording and Red76.
Curated by James Voorhies
