Benton Mahan, visual communications associate professor, teaches illustration, decorative illustration, and portfolio. He has more than 25 years experience as an art director, designer, and illustrator for Hallmark Cards, Norcross Cards, Merrill Publishing, the A.D. Schiavone Advertising Agency in New York, and Industrial Design magazine. He has illustrated dozens of textbooks and children’s books. He worked closely with Jim Henson and illustrated several Muppet books and created artwork for the Sesame Street TV shows. He has won many awards for his work, including those from the Society of Illustrators Humor Show, the New York Creative Show, the New York One Show, CA Print, the American Institute of Graphic Arts, and the Society of Korean Illustration Art. In 1999, Mr. Mahan had two illustrations chosen for American Illustrated: A Show of Contemporary Illustration, a traveling exhibition sponsored by the Italian government. He is included in the books How to Get Started As a Freelance Illustrator, Humorous Illustration, and Who’s Who in American Art. Mr. Mahan has also taught design and illustration at the Fashion Institute of Technology. He has a BFA from CCAD.

Kelly Malec-Kosak, fine arts assistant professor, teaches sculpture. Prior to her 2002 appointment at CCAD, she taught jewelry and three-dimensional design at the College of Mount St. Joseph in Cincinnati and directed CraftSummer at Miami University. Mrs. Malec-Kosak actively participates in solo, group, and invitational exhibitions and has been invited to lecture and perform demonstrations at galleries, museums, and colleges across the country. She has an MFA from the California College of Arts and Crafts and a BFA in jewelry and metal arts from Miami University in Oxford, OH.

Michael Manley, liberal arts associate professor, teaches composition, literature, and speech. He is a poet and has published poems in various journals. Mr. Manley earned a BA and MA from The Ohio State University, an MFA from John Hopkins University, and has done considerable doctoral work at The Ohio State University.

Christopher Marks, industrial design adjunct instructor, teaches Solidworks computer modeling. Mr. Marks earned his BSID in product design from the Ohio State University. He is currently employed as a senior industrial designer at Priority Designs where he is involved in all aspects of the product design process. Visit: prioritydesigns.com.

Candice Marzetz, visual communications adjunct instructor, teaches portfolio in the fashion design department. She also art directs the photography and brand image for The White Barn Candle Co. and Bath & Body Works. Ms. Marzetz received a BFA in retail advertising with an emphasis in fashion design from CCAD.

Kathy McGhee, fine arts instructor, teaches printmaking (lithography, relief, intaglio, and serigraphy) and drawing. She has a BS in plant biology, a BFA in drawing and painting, and an MFA in printmaking from The Ohio State University.

Steve McInturff, foundation studies associate professor, teaches two-dimensional design, fundamentals of typography, and design II. His professional career began at Gibson Greeting Cards in Cincinnati, and then as an art director in advertising and illustration at Advance Studios. He has illustrated for editorial publishing, advertising, educational publishing, children’s publishing and commercial fine arts. He has done illustrations for Procter & Gamble, Levi Strauss, Kenner Toys and General Electric. In 1982 he established Steve McInturff Studio. Mr. McInturff has illustrated 21 children’s picture books, five coloring books and four electronic board games. His clients include The Cincinnati Enquirer, McGraw Hill, Golden Books, HBJ, Psychology Today and Focus on the Family. He received his BFA from CCAD in illustration.

Robin McKell, liberal arts associate professor, is the chair of the art history department, and teaches history of art courses on photography, cinema, and American art. She has published articles about art in central and southern Ohio and has lectured at various institutions including Wright State University, Kenyon College, and the Columbus Museum of Art. Ms. McKell earned a BA in photography and an MA in history of art from The Ohio State University, and has completed coursework for a doctorate in art history at The Ohio State University; her dissertation is on American photographer Lewis Hine.

Stewart McKissick, visual communications professor, teaches digital illustration and two-dimensional design. He is also a freelance illustrator. His clients have included The Battelle Memorial Institute, CompuServe, Corel Painter Magazine, Disney Adventures Magazine, Field & Stream, F&W Publications, Golden Books, and Whittle Communications. His work has been included in exhibitions at the Museum of Cartoon Art, The Society of Illustrators, the Norman Rockwell Museum, and MacWorld and Seybold conferences, as well as in The Complete Book of Humorous Art. Mr. McKissick received a BFA in illustration from CCAD and an MFA in illustration from Syracuse University.

Sanford Meisel, “Sandy”, visual communications adjunct instructor, teaches publishing and publication design. He is director of marketing communications for The Ohio State University College of Nursing. He was owner of Meisel Design Office Inc., a communication design practice specializing in brand identity, publication design and development, and marketing communications. His clients included Honda of America Mfg., Bank One, The Limited, Nationwide Communications Inc., and The Ohio State University. Mr. Meisel was creative director of Paul Werth Associates and founding design director and associate publisher of Columbus Monthly magazine. He is a past president of the Columbus Society of Communicating Arts (CSCA) and a member of the American Institute of Graphic Arts (AIGA). He holds a BFA in visual communication design from The Ohio State University where he has taught courses in professional practice, portfolio, and introduction to design.

Dr. Susan Mary Myers, adjunct instructor, Art History department, teaches: Late Modern, Contemporary, and African American Art History. Art education is her passion. In her pursuits in the area of art education in museums, public schools, and universities and colleges Dr. Myers is intrigued by how people derive meaning from visual art/culture. As an educator at The Columbus Museum of Art, she developed programs for teachers, school groups, young children and the general public. At The Ohio State University her focus area was contemporary art and music. Her dissertation research focused on the work and life of Aminah Brenda Lynn Robinson, a Columbus-born contemporary artist. In public school teaching Dr. Myers's program focuses on global education as it relates to the arts.

Anedith Nash, provost, was academic dean and chief of operations at Oregon College of Art & Craft before coming to CCAD in 2000. She worked at Minneapolis College of Art and Design from 1989 to 1998 in three significant positions: associate academic dean, professor and chair of Liberal Arts, and dean of Continuing Studies. She has also served on the faculty of Hamline University Graduate School and Macalester College. She received her Ph.D. in American studies from University of Minnesota, an MA in political science from Washington State University, and a BS in social science and education from Baylor University.

Char Norman, associate provost, holds a BA from Scripps College and an MFA from Claremont Graduate University. An accomplished fiber artist specializing in papermaking and artists’ books, she has an extensive national exhibition record. She has organized, taught, and lectured in numerous venues from community children’s art programs to graduate level courses at a variety of colleges and universities. Before coming to CCAD she developed and conducted workshops for art educators and children, and worked as a consultant to area schools and community arts organizations, while running her own fiber arts business.

Douglas Norman, fine arts professor, teaches painting and drawing. He earned a BA from California State University San Diego and an MFA from the Claremont Graduate School and University Center. He has exhibited his works in invitational and juried exhibitions regionally as well as nationally.
