Foundation Studies

Foundation Studies Overview

At CCAD your opportunity to become one of tomorrow’s creative leaders starts with your freshman year in the Foundation Studies program, when you focus on the basics of art and design. The objective is to offer you a strong technical base and to stimulate a vision of your artistic potential in order to help you can gain the secure footing needed to propel your career forward.

The Foundation Studies program is interdisciplinary, with each course building upon the one before. The program includes:

  • Design classes (color concept, two- and three-dimensional design, digital design & type, and structural drawing).
  • Fine arts classes (drawing I: fundamentals, drawing II: figure and anatomy, and fundamentals of painting).

The foundation program is rigorous. But, if you master these basic principles of art and design, you’ll draw upon them throughout your career.
