FacilitiesThe Department of Industrial Design utilizes facilities in several buildings on the CCAD campus. Kinney Hall houses the studio spaces, main computer lab, rapid prototyping facility and work facilities for the department. Additional workspace and digital documentation facilities are available in the Administration Building. Additional computer facilities are accessible in the Crane Design Center while lecture classrooms are utilized throughout the campus. The Kinney Hall facility represents the core of the Industrial Design department with sophomore, junior and senior studios being the hub of creative development for the students. There is a dedicated senior and shared junior / sophomore studio space directly adjacent to conference room, computer lab, rapid prototyping station and shop and finishing facilities. The student workstations include drawing tables, locker storage, pin up boards and wireless network for laptop computers. Student exhibition space marks the entrance to the department, displaying work from every level of the industrial design curriculum. Key technologies housed within the Kinney Hall facility are state of the art CAD (computer aided design) network and Dimensions BST 3D printer from Stratasys, Inc. These systems support concept development and exploration by providing industry standard rapid prototyping capability within the design facilities. The facilities encourage students to move seamlessly between the physical and virtual environments throughout the design process. In addition to the Kinney Hall computer lab, additional computing facilities are located in the Crane Design Center.
