MEDIA STUDIES OVERVIEWPhotography, video, interactive art and animation come together in the Media Studies program. Media Studies majors choose either a still- or time-based track. However our curriculum is designed to give you experience in both. In this program you'll use the tools of existing and emerging technologies to skillfully and imaginatively convey your ideas. You'll learn that the power of the medium comes from the artist, not the gadget. From the click of the shutter to the click of a mouse you'll apply art and design principles to realize your unique composition. Coupling technical skills with your artistic vision offers you opportunities to move into commercial or fine art careers as creative, resourceful, and visionary problem solvers. At CCAD, Media Studies students have ample opportunities to show their work. Photography students can elect to present a solo exhibition in one of CCAD's thesis galleries. Film, video and animation pieces are screened in CCAD's main gallery throughout the run of the annual student exhibition-giving students the opportunity to see their finished piece on the big screen. Our graduates have found opportunities in a multitude of companies, including Disney, Pixar and Dreamworks, while working in fields such as photography, photojournalism, animation, cartooning, filmmaking, and special effects.
