As a Photography major at CCAD, you’ll learn how to create original images with meaning as you develop your technical skills alongside your understanding of aesthetics and theory—and how to market yourself and your work. You’ll work closely with faculty who maintain professional practices, and you’ll learn from your peers via the Photography Collective, too.
And as a CCAD photo student, you’ll have access to professional gear and cutting-edge digital tools, as well as traditional techniques and historical processes—a combination that’s unlike what you’ll find anywhere else. It’s also one that provides you with many career options to choose from, whether you pursue fine arts, commercial photography, start your own studio, or work for someone else.

Our campus has the tools and the spaces to help you make your vision real.
As a Photography student, you have access to a borrowing library with a wide array of analog and digital cameras and lighting equipment for your use.
You’ve captured an image, but that’s just the start. Bring your work to life using our black-and-white darkroom, our large-format darkroom, and our individual photosensitive process lab. Plus, we have Canon 17-, and 44-inch printers, calibrated computers, and Adobe Creative Cloud for your digital works.
Our 2,000-square-foot commercial photo studio with dedicated Canon 5D cameras and a large-format digital capture camera allow you to think big with your work.

Course Spotlight
Studio Lighting I Methods and Meaning
Introduces photographic lighting techniques and studio practices in relation to commercial photographic methods. Theoretical and applied components of photographic lighting, as well as technical and design issues through assignments, are derived from real-world commercial photography scenarios. As the foundation of commercial photographic practice, multiple tasks involved in making professional commercial imagery are covered, and both technical expertise and creative process are expected to bring projects to completion.
