Alumni, faculty craft tiny pieces for annual show

Tiny masterpieces are on display at the Ohio Art League's Thumb Box exhibition, running through Dec. 28 at the OAL Gallery in South Campus Gateway of Columbus, OH.

The annual show challenges OAL members to submit 2D and 3D works which can measure no more than 6 inches by 6 inches by 6 inches.

Of the 51 artists, five have CCAD connections: Fine Arts alumna Roxanne Smith-Mansell (CCAD 1987), Fine Arts alumna and Associate Professor of Foundation Studies Julie Abijanac (CCAD 1992), Fine Arts alumnus Andrew Ina (CCAD 2006), MFA alumna Amy Cubberly-Yeager (CCAD 2013), and Adjunct Instructor of Advertising & Graphic Design Lisa McLymont.

The first exhibition of this type was held during November 1916, and it continued annually during the early part of the League’s history. After a hiatus of many years, the Thumb Box exhibition returned in 2006 and has continued to the present.

Smith-Mansell is from Columbus, OH; Abijanac is from Columbus, OH, and attended Columbus Alternative High School; Ina is from Strongsville, OH, and attended Strongsville Senior High School; Cubberly-Yeager is from Columbus, OH; and McLymont is from Columbus, OH.
