Alumnus featured in Chicago exhibition

Fall's Whisper, a painting by Fine Arts alumnus Kurt Fondriest (CCAD 1985), is featured in Autumn, an exhibition at the Life Force Arts Center in Chicago.

The spiritually focused arts center displays paintings, workshops, performances, and other works. Autumn in particular explores the colorful facets of the harvest seasoon.

Trees are a recurring image in Fondriest's art. He says they are symbolic of the support he needs to live with fibromyalgia, a chronic pain condition. Fondriest currently works as an expressive art therapist at a residential facility in Chicago for adults with developmental disabilities.

The exhibition runs through Wednesday, Nov. 20, with a closing reception from 7-9 p.m. on that day. The Life Force Arts Center is located at 1609 W. Belmont Ave., Chicago, IL, 60657. The gallery is open Mondays and Thursdays, 1:30-6:30 p.m. and by appointment.

Fondriest draws inspiration from the countryside of his hometown, Dennison, OH, where he attended Claymont High School.
