Illustration alumnus Brian Uhl (CCAD 2008) has a solo exhibition The Tower at Static Age Gallery in Cincinnati, Jan. 25–March 29.

The exhibition will feature 18 of Uhl’s most recent illustrations along with a few multimedia prints and T-shirt designs.

Uhl works with pen, ink, and markers, illustrating primarily in black and white. He has been influenced by punk, metal, and other subcultures.

“The work will be from commission work I've done for bands and businesses over the past year, as well as some large-scale personal pieces,” Uhl said. “The personal works will be displayed both in their original format and as multimedia prints that I will make in collaboration with Southpaw Prints, the screen printing shop in Static Age Gallery.”

Uhl is also working on a quarterly comic for a new magazine, Decompression, based in the United Kingdom. The magazine will report on current industrial, punk, and metal music.

“I'm really excited about this since he's letting me just do whatever I want, which means I can get as weird as I want to,” Uhl said.

Static Age Gallery is located at 1334 Main Street in Cincinnati. The exhibition will open on Jan. 25 during Cincinnati’s monthly Last Friday event, which features open galleries and shops in the Over-the-Rhine historic neighborhood.
