Certificate Programs

CCAD is working to determine what classes we can offer safely and well in Fall 2020. All dates listed are aspirational and subject to change.

Get certified

Columbus College of Art & Design's Continuing & Professional Studies department is launching a new certificate program for working professionals looking to sharpen art and design skills ranging from visual storytelling and self-publishing to web design and motion graphics. Through a series of four 10-session courses taught by CCAD faculty, you will build a compelling professional portfolio to help you land that dream job, change careers, or start your own company.

You can complete the non-credit-bearing certificate program in as little as a year or take the courses at your own pace.

Students who enroll in any CCAD certificate program should have experience drawing and using Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, InDesign, and Photoshop). If you do not have that experience, you can enroll in our Adobe Creative Suite and Adobe Design Basics classes.

Read on to learn more about our first certificate program, Visual Storytelling & Self-Publishing. We’ll be launching more certificate programs, including Web Design & Interactive Media and Motion Graphics, in fall 2020.

Visual Storytelling & Self-Publishing

Create digital and traditional illustrations and learn how to publish and promote your work online and in print. Find your voice as you explore traditional illustration techniques like painting and drawing and digital drawing methods using Illustrator, InDesign, and Photoshop. Through a series of four 10-session courses taught by CCAD faculty, you will explore illustration, comics, graphic novels, children’s books, and other forms of visual storytelling.

The four required courses are:

  • Traditional Illustration | Available in fall & spring

  • Digital Illustration 1 | Available in fall & spring

  • Digital Illustration 2 | Available in spring & summer

  • Self-Publishing & Promotion | Available in spring & summer

If you’ve already taken any of those courses at CCAD, they can count toward your certificate.
