I am a mark maker working in watercolor, oil and gouache to explore issues of psychological isolation as well as extreme emotional fluctuation. The kind of feelings that mix like hot and cold air, forming a storm that bruises from the inside out. I act out this violence through a dirty vivisection, ripping away layers, dragging my brush through congealing paint, and building in the scars that need be there. Characters emerge from my canvas, teeth bared, faces frozen in a scream, each portrait an echo of the last. As my viewer recognizes themselves among the many, I make a bid to find connection through mutual separation.
