Caressing flowers with fake nails, smashing wet clay, amplifying movement and touch through intensified noise, I use my body as a site to perform gender, continuing a history of activism that seeks to break stereotypes of patriarchal society. Using video, sculpture, performance and installation, I draw from personal experiences of misogyny, using aggressive mark making as a way to physically confront frustration and reclaim my power as a feminine body. Influenced by drag and theatre, my work contrasts soft and aggressive gestures with image sound distortions to combine messy vulgarity and glam, culminating in works that celebrate femme dominance and flip assumptions that femininity is bound to weakness.
