Tongue-N-Cheek features work by Nicole Bean. It will be on view April 16-22 in Byers Gallery. Read more in Nicole’s artist statement:

I am an artist and craftswoman concerned with transforming the bleakness of the human-made world into a colorfully elastic, formless world of play. Drawing on my everyday travels through urban landscapes, I reimagine the world around me, re-envisioning light posts, city benches and buildings as if they had no internal structure and could flop over at any moment. Working with glass, plaster, paint and wood, I create abstract forms of bright colors to create an environment in which the viewer can escape the outside confrontations of day to day life and be transported into a new world that celebrates the abstract possibilities of the wandering mind.
