Red Wheelbarrow: Celebrating National Poetry Month

Tue, Apr 17, 2018

Support CCAD’s invigorating creative writing scene by coming out for Red Wheelbarrow: A Student/Faculty Creative Writing Reading Series. The series provides faculty and students the opportunity to share work in poetry, fiction, creative non-fiction, comics, and screenwriting.

On April 17, we’ll celebrate National Poetry Month with poetry readings by two students and our guest reader Jen Town, who will read selections from her forthcoming book of poetry, The Light of What Comes After. Jen, who lives in Columbus with her wife Carrie, was the winner of the 2017 May Sarton New Hampshire Poetry Prize.

Judge Jennifer Militello had this to say about Jen’s collection: “[It] offers a sure manifesto against the domestic and cosmetic. Town’s poems are wry and aware; within them, we find dead oregano, girls in pastels, and smoked bees… Town’s rich linguistic moments and surprising imagery lend her voice a slant which can seem playful and unafraid, but warning is always stitched just below the surface.”

As part of a City of Columbus initiative, Columbus College of Art & Design is currently undergoing a campus beautification project. Please check ccad.edu/construction for updates on how to access our campus.
