Robert Loss received a B.A. in English from Ohio Wesleyan University in 1996 and an MFA in English from The Ohio State University in 2005. His multidisciplinary practice focuses on creative writing, comics studies, popular music studies, and American studies. He is the author of Nothing Has Been Done Before: Seeking the New in 21st Century American Popular Music (Bloomsbury Academic, Nov. 2017). His criticism has appeared in an array of publications including The Los Angeles Review of Books, Public Books, The Comics Journal, The Comics Grid, and The International Journal of Comic Arts. He writes a monthly column for PopMatters. He has published short fiction in 2 Bridges Review, Filigree, Mayday, and CCAD's literary journal Botticelli. He teaches Fiction Writing, American Literature for the New Century, The Literature of Comics, and co-teaches Comics and Narrative Illustration.
