Local gallery to showcase art by student, alumnus

ROY G BIV Gallery will feature work by Fine Arts alumnus Greg Ponchak (CCAD 2013) and Fine Arts senior Kyle Franklin beginning Jan. 4.

The two-artist exhibition of interdisciplinary artwork will challenge dominant social roles and expectations. Franklin embraces the LGBT counterculture’s potential for social change, while Ponchak explores alternate modes of existence within dominant ideologies.

Exhibiting artists for the 2014 season were chosen by Sam Gould, co-founder of Red76 and faculty at the School of the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston; Rebecca Ibel, director and curator of the Pizzuti Collection and former owner of Rebecca Ibel Gallery; and Brad Troemel, artist, writer for DIS Magazine and Art F City, and instructor at New York University.

An opening reception will be held Jan. 4 from 7–10 p.m. and artists' talk will take place on Jan. 25 at 2:30 p.m.

ROY G BIV Gallery is located at 997 N. High St., Columbus, OH, 43201. Gallery hours are Wednesday–Friday 3–6 p.m. and Saturday 1–5 p.m.

Ponchak is from North Royalton, OH (North Royalton High School) and Franklin is from Marion, IL (Johnston City High School).
