New York gallery exhibits alumnus' work

Fine Arts, John O'Reilly

O'Reilly's sculpture "Eucharist"

Alumnus John O'Reilly (CCAD 2007) will have his first solo exhibition, John O'Reilly: I stand and look at them long and long, at RH Gallery in New York City.

The Fine Arts graduate creates sculptures that portray animals in a state between sleep and death. O'Reilly's sculptures start with hand-modeled clay forms, which are then used to make a silicone mold. The mold is filled suspended with particles of porcelain, bone, and graphite in with polyurethane resin.

O'Reilly resides in Brooklyn, New York. He has participated in numerous group exhibitions and he received a post-graduate fellowship from the New York Academy of Art and a residency at the Leipzig International Artist Residency.

RH Gallery presents contemporary art with a focus on process-driven craft by international and national artists.

The exhibition is open March 6–April 27, with an opening reception on March 6, 6–8 p.m.
