Originally from Romania and now living in Pittsburgh, where she works as an Art Director of Packaging & Communication Design at Philips, Olga Cuzuioc (Advertising & Graphic Design, 2009) returns to her alma mater for the Art Fair this spring, an event she’s participated in “at least seven times,” by her estimation.

At the Art Fair, Cuzuioc will be selling oil, acrylic, and mixed media paintings, as well as custom-order, 3D handmade wedding invitations out of cut paper; her works are priced at $45-$1,000.

“I like to showcase different aspects of life through paintings and other types of art forms. My goal in art has always been to capture expression and mood,” she said.

Read more from Cuzuioc below, and find more examples of her work on Instagram and in this feature.

Why did you want to participate in the CCAD Art Fair?

I love the art fair. It's a great way to meet new people and share my work. It has always been a great reminder of where I started in my career and how much CCAD helped define me as an artist. It brings great memories

How has your CCAD education influenced the work you will be offering for sale?

My base was set here and I strongly believe that it's crucial to have that well defined before you go in the big world.

How long does it take you to create one of your custom wedding invitations?

The design process takes the longest and it depends on the client’s needs. The cutting part takes about four hours per invite.

What is it about paper engineering projects that you particularly enjoy?

They highlight the attention to detail quality that I have, and bring a different perspective to what you can call art. I love paper and everything you can express through it.

Is there a theme to your paintings, either in approach or in subject matter?

I love trying different aspects of art expression and different techniques that challenge me. The themes can be quite different and they are a great representation of what I feel at that moment in my life.
