After graduating from CCAD in 2004, Erwin Lian felt conflicted about moving back to his native Singapore.

But instead of letting his depression get the best of him, Lian began to explore the globe — and his art.

With a sketchbook in one hand and a paintbrush in another, The Columbus Dispatch reports, Lian traveled around Asia, Europe, and North America, painting famous landmarks, sunrises, and town scenes.

“Traveling and painting became his salvation amid his work,” Dispatch reporter Allison Ward wrote.

Lian’s work came full circle with his return to Columbus for a show, In Transit, at Enso Tattoo with help from friend and fellow CCAD alum, Curt Everitt, who co-owns the Short North tattoo shop.

In Transit is on view at Enso Tattoo now through Sept. 25, 2016.
