Registration for January Orientation opens on Dec. 1.
For new students entering CCAD in the fall semester, students have two orientation options; a 2-day session in June or a one-day session in August. While the August session will contain all the essentials, the schedule has been condensed. If your schedule allows, the June sessions are preferable and provide the most time to enjoy the orientation experience.
Two sessions are offered:
Session I - Monday, June 12 & Tuesday, June 13
Session II - Thursday, June 15 & Friday, June 16
The first day of orientation begins around 9 a.m. and lasts until around 9 p.m., while the second day begins around 8 a.m. and ends around noon giving you plenty of time to take care of any business matters. A detailed schedule will be available closer to registration.
During June orientation, you will:
Family members are offered housing on campus (separate from students) for $60. For those families looking to stay off-campus, click here for lodging options near CCAD.
Free meals include lunch and dinner on the first day and continental breakfast on the second day.
There will be local banks set up at the end of orientation to open new accounts if you wish.
Registration for June orientation opens on May 1.
Orientation in August consists of two sessions, geared toward two different populations of incoming students:
Transfer and Non-Traditional student orientation - Thursday, August 24
Session III for new, first-year students - Friday, August 25
Session III of orientation takes place the Friday before classes begin and is a similar, but more condensed version of our June orientation. The one-day session lasts from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and includes meeting with major faculty, hearing about support services, meeting orientation leaders and other new students and families. There is no overnight option for this session for non-residential students, as students will have moved into their rooms prior to orientation. Families needing to stay overnight will need to make off-campus reservations.
Registration for Session III opens on May 1.
This session is geared toward students who have spent time at another college or university and are transferring credit to CCAD, as well as those over the age of 21. This session is tailored for students who have college transition experience and want to get the nuts and bolts of what they need to know about CCAD. This session begins around 10 a.m. and ends around 4 p.m. Students will meet with faculty in their major, hear about support services offered, meet Student Orientation Leaders and have the opportunity to speak to an advisor about their class schedule. There will also be time to complete any other business you might have with the college prior to the beginning of classes. Family members are welcome to attend.
Registration for this session opens on May 1.
For students from outside of the United States starting at CCAD in the fall, we offer a mandatory multi-day orientation geared toward helping you transition to living in the U.S., and specifically Columbus.
During orientation, students will meet with your international mentors, learn about Visa regulations and international student insurance, get a class schedule, move into their room, go shopping for essentials, set up a bank account and a new cell phone and more!
More information will be sent to students via email in early summer.
