Fredrik Marsh was born in Quantico, Virginia and lives and works in Columbus, Ohio. He attended The Ohio State University, earning a BFA in Photography in 1980 and an MFA in Printmaking in 1984. Marsh is a recipient of the 2008 John Simon Guggenheim Memorial Foundation Fellowship, and has also received fellowships from Arts Midwest/NEA, Greater Columbus Arts Council, Ohio Arts Council, and the 2002 GCAC/State of Saxony Artist Residency in Dresden, Germany.
Exhibiting nationally & internationally since 1978, Marsh's work lives in the Permanent Collections at the Cleveland Museum of Art, Columbus Museum of Art, George Eastman House, LA County Museum of Art, Milwaukee Art Museum, Museum of Fine Arts–Houston, Museu de Arte Moderna do Rio de Janeiro, Toledo Museum of Art, and Kunstmuseum Moritzburg Halle, among others.
Marsh has taught photography at various colleges and universities since 1985, most recently for The Ohio State University and for the University of Georgia Studies Abroad in Cortona, Italy Program.
