Kat studied at Ohio University and has worked in both scholarly and pedagogical fields in Art History since 2008, developing a specialty in Contemporary Middle Eastern Art. Kat earned her BA in 2008 and MA in 2010 in Art History at Ohio University, and completed her PhD in Interdisciplinary Arts from Ohio University in 2018.

Kat has been an Adjunct Instructor at Columbus College of Art & Design since 2018 and currently teaches Historical Art and Design. Her professional recognition includes the 2016 Seigfred Outstanding Teaching Award from the School of Interdisciplinary Arts at Ohio University and the invited guest lecture "History and Revolution: Contemporary Egyptian Street Art," for the 2017 Art Honors Tutorial course at Ohio University. In addition, Kat has presented at numerous conferences and symposia including Boston University's Annual Graduate Symposium of Art and Architecture in 2017 and the College Art Association's Annual Conference in 2016.
