Katy Peterson Viccellio was raised in Texas and Louisiana. She worked 8 years in Chicago as a lighting designer before moving to Ohio to pursue architecture. While in Chicago, Katy spent several seasons as Assistant Lighting Director for The Oprah Winfrey Show and designed lighting for performances and events throughout the Midwest. After completing her Master of Architecture at Ohio State, Katy worked 4 years as a project director for Jonathan Barnes Architecture and Design (JBAD) in Columbus, where she contributed to numerous projects including multifamily, commercial, civic, and manufacturing. Her first building as a project director, the Middle West Spirits renovation/ Service Bar, won a 2017 AIA Columbus Honor Award. She holds a B.A. in Theatre + Dance (Design) from University of Texas at Austin and M. Arch. from The Ohio State University. Katy teaches Lighting Design at CCAD with Joel Gundlach.
