New CCAD Knows Retail lecture series explores trends with industry leaders

COLUMBUS, Ohio—Now is a pivotal time in retail, and there are none better-set than the creative and resourceful minds at Columbus College of Art & Design (CCAD) to examine and solve the many challenges in this evolving field. As part of that work, CCAD is launching a new nine-part online lecture series, CCAD Knows Retail, featuring industry leaders who will share their insight about the retail landscape—and what’s on the horizon. All events are free to attend, but registration is required.

The series kicks off Feb. 18, 2021 at noon (EST) with “The 2020 Effect: Retail in ‘21 and Beyond,'' hosted by Chuck Palmer, a noted retail and consumer behavior expert and owner of ConsumerX Retail. Palmer will explore how the pandemic and socio-political forces are accelerating changes in the retail landscape. He’ll discuss temporary changes in consumer behavior and those that spell significant changes in how we shop and how retailers and brands connect with us.

Then, on March 4, 2021 at noon (EST), Bevan Bloemendaal, Former Vice President of Global Environments & Creative Services at Timberland, presents “Whole-Brained: The Value of the Journey.” Bloemendaal’s lecture focuses on the interconnectedness of strategy and creative and how assets, from ads to products, should be created with intention.

Coming March 18, 2021 at noon (EDT), Lee Peterson, Executive Vice President of Thought Leadership & Marketing at WD Partners, presents, “The store of the future is not a store.” The talk will highlight the latest consumer research by WD Partners and explore what the retail landscape post-pandemic might look like.

The CCAD Knows Retail lecture series features industry experts who serve on the Advisory Board for CCAD’s soon-to-launch Master of Professional Studies in Retail Design. The new program, which is expected to launch later this year, is currently pending Higher Learning Commission approval.
