The Gertrude Prize for Art History

The Gertrude Prize for Art History was established by an anonymous donor to recognize CCAD’s top art history student each year. Gertrude is the name of the donor’s mother. Each year, Art History faculty members nominate a student who excels in art history for the prize.

The Lowell Tolstedt Prize

The Lowell Tolstedt Prize was funded by alumna and former Board of Trustees member, Pamela Workman, and her husband, Thomas. They wanted to honor a wonderful professor at CCAD: Mr. Lowell Tolstedt. Now retired from CCAD after more than 35 years of teaching, Mr. Tolstedt served as Dean of Fine Arts from 1981 to 2005 and is currently Professor Emeritus. He has work in a number of collections, including the Art Institute of Chicago, the National Museum of American Art at the Smithsonian Institute, the Columbus Museum of Art, the Evansville Museum of Art, and the Minnesota Museum of Art. The Lowell Tolstedt Prize is awarded each spring to a student in Fine Arts on the basis of merit.

The Pamela Workman Prize

The Pamela Workman Prize was funded by alumna and former Board of Trustees member, Pamela Workman, and her husband, Thomas. Pamela believes CCAD had the single greatest impact on her life and, for that reason, wanted to support other students who were studying here. She said "My whole life, I wanted to attend CCAD, [but] I wasn't able to afford it until I was in my 40s. I just want to make it possible for others to do it sooner. It's a learning environment, an enveloping atmosphere. Once one has experienced CCAD, it's a life bubble—it goes with you." The Pamela Workman Prize is awarded each spring to a student in Fine Arts on the basis of merit.
