In CCAD's Film & Video program, you’ll learn skills at every step of the filmmaking process, as you sharpen your creative eye behind the lens. From pre-production through post-production and distribution, you'll cover a thorough exploration of the field, including cinematography, directing, editing, production design, screenwriting, storyboarding and production management. Here, our collaborative, project-based approach seamlessly integrates real-world assignments, industry standards, professional practices and challenging coursework. Whether you want to make films, motion graphics, fine art installations, commercials, documentaries or music videos, you can make them all at Columbus College of Art & Design.


CCAD's state-of-the-art facilities give you the equipment and technology you need to explore your filmmaking potential. You'll have access to:

  • Fully-equipped shooting stage
  • Live-action and animation labs
  • Spacious screening rooms
  • Cameras, audio recorders, microphones, tripods, lights, studio and field lighting grip equipment, as well as moving camera equipment
  • Mac and PC labs, editing stations with Cintiq monitors and production software (Adobe Creative Cloud production suite, Final Cut Pro X, Pro Tools, Toon Boom Storyboard Pro and Harmony, Maya, Nuke, Cinema 4D, Unity Pro and ZBrush)

Notable alumni

Corey Aumiller, Cinematic Arts, Columbus College of Art & Design (CCAD)

After his time at CCAD, Corey Aumiller completed a directing fellowship at the American Film Institute where he directed four short films in two years, including his thesis film, Grill Dog. His film and video work has been screened in festivals worldwide. His short stop-frame animation Love Letter took home the Jury Award at the 2013 Ohio Shorts festival at the Wexner Center for the Arts.

Mike Olenick, Cinematic Art, Columbus College of Art & Design (CCAD).

Mike Olenick is an experimental narrative filmmaker whose works have screened at the Ann Arbor Film Festival, the World Wide Video Festival, the Chicago Underground Film Festival, the Hamburg International Short Film Festival, Rencontres Internationales and Seattle International Film Festival, among others. He has edited projects for directors and filmmakers including Guy Maddin, Jennifer Reeder, Michael Robinson and Sadie Benning.
