    What We Do

    Life is full of movement, and you’ll learn how to capture it in CCAD’s Animation program. Here, you’ll learn the latest in animation tools and techniques, including 2D, 3D and experimental forms (think claymation, stop-motion, or other forms of animation made with unexpected materials). That’s not all: You’ll also learn about creating motion graphics, digital modeling, and virtual reality. And you’ll make work using professional-grade tools and facilities, all with the support of our expert faculty.

    What We Do

    Learn how to tell powerful stories and create characters that leap to life from the pages of your comics and graphic novels. You’ll explore that, and more, in CCAD’s Comics & Narrative Practice program, as you develop a voice and a style that’s uniquely yours—and gain industry skills and knowledge, from pitching a story to crafting publisher-ready scripts to marketing your work. You’ll elevate your skills by learning to ink, color, and letter your comics. And you’ll do it under the guidance of our Comics faculty, who work with superhero powerhouses Marvel and DC; the iconic, creator-owned Image Comics; major children’s book publishers like Random House; and indie comics legend Fantagraphics.

    What We Do

    Columbus is home to the third-highest concentration of fashion designers (behind only New York and Los Angeles), putting our Fashion Design students in the heart of a thriving industry and surrounded by tons of opportunities to gain industry experience long before you graduate. Our program works closely with some of the largest and most creative fashion brands in the world as you learn to design real clothing for real people. And it all leads to our annual fashion show, a juried runway show that provides our Fashion Design seniors with the opportunity to design a collection and debut it in front of a crowd of hundreds, including industry professionals and tastemakers.

    Sharpen your creative eye with real-world assignments in our Film & Video program.     You’ll realize your artistic vision and take your creative journey further in our Fine Arts program. Here, you’ll learn cutting-edge art theory in the classroom as you sharpen your skills in the studio, working in a range of media and approaches like drawing, printmaking, sculpture, and painting. That’s just the start. You’ll also have the opportunity to connect with internationally renowned visiting artists who can share their approach to making, and who will give you important feedback as you develop your creative practice.   • Game Art & Design

    What We Do

    Learn everything game-making - from introductory coding to how to build playable prototypes in CCAD’s Game Art & Design program. You’ll grow your skills inside in the classroom and out as you learn from expert faculty members, visiting professionals, and even your peers in student-led organizations, such as the Game Development Guild, the Battle Game Alliance, and the Tabletop/Role Play Game Club.

  • Graphic Design

    What We Do

    Want to create designs that influence people and make a difference in the world? With a bachelor’s in Graphic Design from Columbus College of Art & Design, you can do just that. Here, you’ll develop technical skills, learn to consider design from a user’s perspective, and build your professional network as you learn in and outside of the classroom. At CCAD, you’ll take on real-world assignments with real-world clients like Airstream and Red, White & BOOM!, and you’ll take part in events such as the American Advertising Federation-sponsored event “The Pitch,” which focuses on social change projects. Plus, you can join the AdGraph Collective, a group for students who love design (and pizza), and local professional organizations, such as the Columbus Society of Communicating Arts.

    You have creative talent—and you’ll take it to the next level in our top-ranked Illustration program. Here, you’ll develop the skills you need to communicate ideas and emotions through pictures. You’ll master drawing and rendering techniques and learn how to use new tools, guided by faculty members who have active creative practices in illustration. As a CCAD student, you’ll learn how to breathe life into character designs, craft attention-grabbing motion graphics, create out-of-this-world 3D objects, and much more. You’ll graduate prepared for what you want to do next, whether that’s writing and illustrating your own books, creating eye-catching prints and posters, or contributing to the cutting-edge concepts, characters, and worlds that top entertainment companies are looking for.

    The world is changing, and the way we design our environments—the spaces where we live, shop, work, and relax—matters more than ever. With CCAD’s Interior Architecture & Design program, you’ll find the facilities, tools, and faculty to help you make your design vision real. Here, you’ll learn how to design spaces that are beautiful and functional. Our program focuses on a user-centered approach, meaning we start with the needs of the people who will be using a space. From there, students research, plan, design, and problem solve through real world exercises. Our flexible curriculum means you can choose to specialize in the area that interests you the most, whether that’s retail, residential, or educational spaces, furniture design, or environmental design. And you’ll take courses focused on hand sketching, computer modeling and rendering, drafting, and communications, giving you a range of skills that will help you succeed whichever direction you choose.

    To be a successful artist or designer, you will need to be adaptive. You will need to be curious. You will need to write, research, explore, and invent. For these reasons, liberal arts are essential to your education at CCAD. During your first year at CCAD, liberal arts courses focus on writing and communication skills, while upper-level courses cover a range of territory from philosophy to business practices to the natural sciences.

    What We Do

    Learn to identify problems—and create solutions—in our Product Design program. You’ll work closely with your classmates, faculty, and clients like Honda and Nationwide on projects that improve lives. Our designers are inventors, innovators, and game changers who are all about tackling complex challenges and making the world a better place. We help nonprofits design new goods for kids and adults in need, and we re-imagine and improve the design of all sorts of products, from shoes to boats, scooters to water bottles, and so many others.
